"The Fight"
Every time I take photos at a gym, I am reminded of the life stories that are behind each person's motivation and drive for training. The reasons are many and the tale that each person can tell, vastly interesting.
I've talked to so many that got into it for fitness and health reasons and then one thing leads to another. One woman wanted to fight in the Chicago Golden Gloves while another just wanted to test out their abilities to see if sparring would lead to anything else.
And then there are those who were inspired by champions that made it to the top of the fight card. Those that were consumed by the power, the blood, the sweat and the sacrifice it took to get there.
The photo graphic above was my second attempt at creating a little "logo" and branding piece to put on my photos. This picture I chose is of a young boxer that also wanted to ply his "craft" in the ring through focused training and commitment to his workouts. You really see a lot of amazing things come from a person that is really laser-focused on a goal.
In combat sports, we think of the end result-- the fight itself. That is certainly the exclamation mark on that chapter of the particular combatants story, however, the unfolding and continually evolving stories are the bonds, the friendships and the coaching that gets the fighter to that point. In my opinion, that's what really can captivate our collective imaginations and thoughts. I think most of us can really connect with those people that are trying to survive and thrive in a world that pushes us.
"The Fight" is dedicated to Jeremias, the young man in the photo above, and all the others that come down the road to work towards achieving and reaching their goals and dreams. Whether this ends up with their becoming world champions in the ring, the octagon or gives them the focus and ability to thrive in any area they put their energies towards, their stories are both universal and personal inspiring sagas. Keep punchin'!
